We have a great range of function spaces available for private hire.

Whether you’re looking to hold a meeting or function, through to school seminars or conferences, we have a range of facilities to accommodate your needs.

Nona Lee Sports Centre

The Function Spaces are available for booking during the day and evening, subject to availability.

Perfect for both casual and business events, the function spaces open up to a terrace that has a built-in BBQ and views over the Athletics Track, Hockey Pitch and historic colleges. Options include hiring each room separately or combining both to make one large connected space.

Ernie Cropley Pavilion

The Ernie Cropley Pavilion is the perfect venue for your special event, from weddings and birthday celebrations, to conferences and seminars.

The Pavilion is located in the grounds of the Parkville campus and is steeped in rich sporting tradition. It is the main facility for the University’s Cricket and Football clubs with a heritage listed social room (1906), flanked by the University’s historic colleges.

In 2013, the University of Melbourne commissioned Cox Architects (designers of AAMI park) to expand and upgrade the Pavilion to better cater for functions and events through the creation of large function space and a renovated social room. Today, these spaces are a unique blend of contemporary and historic design, with sweeping views of the historic University Oval and Sporting Precinct.

Layout options are flexible to suit various needs.

The Ernie Cropley Pavilion Function Space provides:
  • Flexible room arrangement of up to 120 for a seated dinner and 180 for a cocktail event
  • Commercial kitchen, which can be used for professional catering
  • Modern bar setup, including boiling/chilled Zip tap
  • Social room and function space can be separated
  • Disabled access and bathrooms
Hire Includes:
  • HDMI / Audio input
  • Data projector
  • Microphone (handheld and lapel)
  • Tables and chairs

Boat House

The Boat House is the perfect location for wedding receptions, birthday celebrations and end of year celebrations.

This unique venue is ideal for up to 80 sit down or 100 cocktail reception guests. It is set picturesquely on the Yarra River and is home to the Melbourne University Boat Club, the oldest rowing club in Australia.

With striking views across the Yarra River to Melbourne's city skyline and access to a generous veranda overlooking Alexandra Gardens, the award-winning function space venue was designed by Lovell Chen Architects to compliment the heritage-listed University Boat House, as part of the city’s historic boat house row.
