Nona Lee Sports Centre - Solar Panel Installation
A project to install solar panels on the roof of the Nona Lee Sports Centre was completed in early 2017. The project was funded by a $500,000 investment from the University, and is expected to result in a 40% reduction in MU Sport's energy costs. The investment is aligned with the University's sustainability goals, which include a commitment to achieve zero net emissions from electricity by 2021.
Billibellary's Walk - Sports Precinct
Billibellary's Walk is named after the Ngurungaeta, or clan head, of the Wurundjeri people at the time of Melbourne’s settlement. The walk is a cultural interpretation of the University’s Parkville campus landscape. An information post was installed in the Sports Precinct which contains history about the River Red Gum trees, which predate the University itself. Athletics Track - The Athletics Track is being renovated, the entire facility is being pressure cleaned and significant areas of the track being resurfaced to ensure safety and provide a quality facility for years to come. Works are scheduled to commence in late November 2017 and finish mid-January 2018. During that period there will be limited access to the hockey pitch and no access to the athletics track.
Tennis Court - The Tennis courts are being resurfaced, in blue, similar to Australian Open courts and new higher mesh fencing installed.
Resulting in significant aesthetic improvements and safer playing conditions. Due for completion in late December.
Scoreboard - Replacement of the existing scoreboard with a new state of the art electronic scoreboard and structure on the southern side of the oval. The project is expected to proceed in December 2017
Paving - New paving is scheduled for construction between the Oval and the Athletics track creating a safe pedestrian path between Tin Alley and the Grandstand and the Colleges. This is due for completion following construction of the scoreboard
