WATER SAFETY PROGRAM

The Water Safety program is a FREE, specialised aquatics education initiative provided by MU Sport. It is specifically tailored to students who have not previously had the opportunity to learn to swim or simply lack water confidence.

Over an 8-week period, consisting of one 30-minute lesson per week, students will be taught the necessary water safety, stroke and survival skills required in Australia. These skills are crucial for water and beach activities and to lessen the risk associated with potentially treacherous and often underestimated water conditions.

All participants will be given free pool access to practise new skills outside of lesson times.

After finishing the lesson component of the course, students can attend a supervised beach experience with their instructors. This will complement the students’ lessons, serve as motivation towards the goal of being safe water users and also provide an experience that they will associate positively with their time at the University.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I know if this program will be right for me?
This program is suitable for beginner swimmers only. If you are confident in the water and are able to swim more than 5 metres, please contact enquiries@propulsionswimacademy.com.au to arrange advanced lessons.

If I’m not able to attend a particular lesson, will there be a make up lesson?
Due to scheduling restrictions, swimmers will not be able to make-up any missed lessons.

How many students are there in the classes?
Classes will be limited to a maximum of 6 swimmers. Most classes will have 4 students. Having small class sizes allows close feedback and observation and improves swimmers’ rate of progression.

Will I be able to practice outside of lesson times?
Extra practice is essential to swimming development. As such, all participants will receive free and unlimited access to the pool outside of their standard lesson times to practice new skills.

What do I need to bring for my swimming lessons?
You are required to have your own bathers, goggles and towel. You will be provided with free a pair of goggles, a cap and a rash-vest in your welcome pack.

I am a domestic student, can i participate in the program?
Yes, domestic students are welcome to join this beginner level program. Propulsion Aquatic
also offers programs for more advanced swimmers.
