15 October; Liam Petterson

It was a big weekend for the Athletics Club as the Division One Men and Women both won at the AV Shield, while several runners impressed at the Melbourne Marathon festival. Commonwealth Games gold medalist Jemima Montag topped the Women's scoring in Round 2 of the AV Shield with her 14:13.4 3000 metre walk, while Christian Paynter topped the Men's points tally for the second week in a row with a 40.92 metre discus and a 53.18 metre javelin. Congratulations to Nick Earl who came 4th in his debut at the Melbourne Marathon with a time of 2:18.56, as well as Frankie Conway who clinched a top-10 finish in the 10km event after finishing 9th with a time of 32:18. In another fantastic achievement, Club member Nick Montgomery won the 100km Great Ocean Walk.

The Cricket Club's Men's Premier First XI backed up last week's win in the season opener with wins against Carlton on Saturday and Melbourne CC on Sunday. Thomas Rogers' 62 runs coupled with 3 wickets each from Steven Reid and Alex Gregory was enough to earn a 9 run win against Carlton, while a half-century from James McNeil and a 3-wicket haul from John McLaughlan helped the side to a 7/214 to 7/211 win vs Melbourne. The Seconds also won both games, while the Third XI won its only game against Carlton.

The Futsal Club's State League 2 team at Futsal Oz scored a 5 - 4 win against Toorak FC to keep top spot with 7 wins from 8 games.

The University Royals Gridiron team won 46 - 7 vs Melton Wolves after a two-week break. It means the side has won 9 from 9 matches played, with one match left in the home-and-away season.

Congratulations to Cycling Club Captain David Randall, who came 7th in the Elite Men's Individual Road Race at the Victorian Road Championships. There were tough conditions in the 122km race as temperatures soared, seeing just 15 complete the course from 50 starters.
