Round 3 of the AV Shield saw the Athletics Club's Senior Women win in Williamstown. Windy conditions could not prevent point-scoring machine Kira Davey from earning impressive results in discus, javelin, long jump, 100m, 400m, 400m hurdles, and pole vault. Commonwealth Games gold medalist Jemima Montag again impressed in the 3000m walk, while the Division One Men came in 3rd place behind Essendon and Western Athletics.

The Rugby Club's Senior Men's 7s side came 4th at the Bendigo Goldfield 7s over the weekend, Victoria's largest 7s tournament which saw over 40 local and international teams compete. It was the 4th year of the competition which has grown in popularity alongside Rugby 7s nationally, including the AON Uni 7s competition in which the University fielded a team for the first time this year and which finished up over the weekend.

The Gridiron Club's fairytale unbeaten run came to an end in its last match of the home-and-away season, losing 9 - 16 to the Western Crusaders. However, the side's 9 wins from the 10-game season was enough to propel it into the playoffs in two weeks' time.

Last week, Weightlifting and Powerlifting Club member Tony Reinmuth scored Best Overall Male lifter at the 2018 Australian Powerlifting Championships. Reinmuth achieved a 370kg raw squat, while fellow Club member Nolene Kingi earned <100kg National Champion, helped by a 200kg squat.

Most Victorian Premier Cricket matches were postponed due to weather, and are due to be replayed this coming Saturday 27 October.
