MU Sport COVID-19 update

An update from the Director of Sport regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic

Dear members and supporters,

Things continue to move quickly as the federal and state governments and the University respond to the constantly evolving situation. The health and wellbeing of the University community is paramount and as a result the University has closed all the sport facilities from today Wednesday 25 March.

This means that the Nona Lee Sports Centre reception, change rooms, meeting rooms and club storage spaces are now closed. The outdoor facilities in the Sport Precinct are also closed and Security have been directed to move on individuals or groups continuing to use the facilities, in particular those not practising appropriate social distancing. The clubs have also been asked to cease any remaining off campus activities including face to face meetings. The MU Sport offices are also closed but our staff can be contacted via email or phone.

Thank you to all the staff and clubs for the swift and considered responses to the pandemic over the last week.

MU Sport is committing to assisting all our members, clubs and supporters to get through this including providing a range of online resources for the University sporting community to stay active including streaming of group fitness classes and video guided workouts that can be done at home. Clubs have been encouraged to provide activity specific training programs for their members which we will also post. The resource page will be updated each day and is available on our Staying Connected webpage. Regular updates are also provided on the MU Sport COVID-19 webpage.

Please remember to exercise, get outside in the fresh air and take care of yourself, your family and friends (don’t forget social distancing) and I am sure that we will all see each other again safe and sound in no time.

Thank you for your patience and ongoing support of sport at the University.

Tim Lee
Director of Sport
