MU Sport facilities to close and programs suspended due to COVID-19

An update from the Director of Sport regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Dear members and supporters,

The University is working tirelessly to ensure that we take all necessary measures in response to COVID-19 and the challenges presented by these unusual circumstances. The health and wellbeing of the University community is paramount and as a result the University will restrict access to our sport and fitness facilities from midnight Tuesday 17 March.

As a consequence there will be no access for fitness members, sporting clubs and teams to the sport and fitness facilities in the Sports Precinct and elsewhere in the University. In addition sport and recreation programs provided by MU Sport including the Water Safety Program and Intervarsity and Intercollegiate sport will be postponed. More detailed program specific information will be provided directly over the next couple of days and clubs have been advised to contact their members.

The Bike Shop, Elite AKademy Physiotherapy and some private and high performance sport coaching activity will continue until further notice. The MU Sport offices will also remain open however if you are experiencing the symptoms of COVID-19, are self-isolating and/or are being tested, do not visit the University in person. The University’s dedicated COVID-19 webpage is the primary source for detailed and up-to-date information otherwise I would encourage you to follow DHHS advice.

At this stage we are unsure how long the changes will be in place but regular updates will be provided on the MU Sport COVID-19 webpage.

Thank you for your patience and ongoing support of sport at the University.

Tim Lee

Director of Sport
