Nona Lee Sports Centre Rec Room: Open for Semester 2 2026!

Looking for a place to relax and have fun between classes? Our Rec Room is open 9am to 5pm every weekday and comes equipped with microwaves, foosball, table tennis, and more! If you just want to sit back and relax, we will have some live sport on a big screen to keep you entertained.

Free Access to Facilities

All students are eligible to get free access to the pool and group fitness classes at selected times upon linking their student eligibility and physical student card to a client profile.

Free Student Swim

Grab your goggles and enjoy a free swim at the pool!

Available: Monday to Friday, 9.00am-11.00am¹

This offer is available to current University of Melbourne students and must be booked through the Client Portal. Bookings open 48 hours in advance and a timeslot must be booked prior to attending.

Before you can book

You only need to do this once.

  • Create a profile in the Client Portal
  • Link your student eligibility and physical student card to your profile² by either:
    1. Visiting reception with your student card; or
    2. Emailing memberships-sport@unimelb.edu.au³ with:
      1. A photo of your student card showing the expiry date; or
      2. Your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)

How to book

  • Login to the Client Portal
  • Select Student Offerings > Free Student Swim
  • Book your preferred entry timeslot

The 2-hour free swim window is broken into 10-minute entry intervals and students can book into their desired entry timeslot

Example: If it's 9:01am and you want to swim straight away, you'll need to book the next available timeslot (9:10am)

When you arrive

  • Scan your student card at the pool entry gate to access the pool³
  • If you arrive before or after your booked time, you can still scan through the gates, provided you have made a booking and scan during the free swim timeslot.
  • Example: During semester, the free swim is timeslot is 9.00am-11.00am. If you have made a booking, you can scan at any time within those hours. Scans before 9.00am or after 11.00am will not be accepted.
    • If you've booked the first interval of the9.00am-11.00am timeslot and arrive within five minutes of prior to 9:00am. Speak to reception and staff will assist you with attendance and entry.

¹During non-teaching periods, the Free Swim program will operate from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The pool will also be closed during the holiday period, see our opening hours for more details.

²Student eligibility can only be linked once a Client Profile has been created

³Students must have their physical student card linked to their client profile in order to enter by scanning the pool entry gate. This can be linked by visiting reception

  • Queer Friendly Gym Session - Free to Staff and Students: Fridays 5:15 pm - 8 pm, Lincoln Square Fitness
  • Free Students Women's Only Exclusive Gym Session: Saturdays 9am - 12pm, Lincoln Square Fitness

To book a free class online, students must first bring their UoM student card to one of our facilities and have their student status confirmed on their online profile.

Quick Hits

Free Quick Hits for Students

Between 9:00am and 11:00am Monday to Friday, Tennis, Badminton and Squash hire is FREE for University of Melbourne students.

These 30 minutes bookings can only be made at Nona Lee Sports Centre reception on the day with no pre-bookings. Unfortunately, there is no equipment hire available, participants need to bring all their own racquets and balls.
