Fitness 24 allows users to access our fitness facility at Lincoln Square, 24 hours a day!!

Starting Monday 30 June, selected members will have access to the space once they complete an induction with a member of staff. More info below.

Fitness is going 24 hours!

Starting Monday 30 June, our fitness facility at Lincoln Square will be open 24 hours a day on a trial basis.

Selected users of the facility will be emailed with an invitation to join the trial and instructions on how the access the facility.

Fitness members (excluding 1- and 4-month fixed terms and casual users) can opt in to the trial at reception during staffed hours.

What is Fitness 24?

Fitness 24 allows inducted users to access our Lincoln Square facility 24 hours a day, except for Saturday's from 9:00am - 12:00pm when our Strong Women Program has exclusive access to the space.

Does Fitness 24 cost extra?

No. Accessing the facility outside of staffed hours is factored into the base MU Sport fitness membership cost. All users must maintain a MU Sport fitness membership to access the space outside of staffed hours.

Does the Beaurepaire Centre have unstaffed hours?

No, the Beaurepaire Centre is not a part of the Fitness 24 program at this stage. Click here for our opening hours.

My access isn't working. What should I do?

Please log in to your member portal to check for any outstanding charges, such as failed direct debits. Access is temporarily suspended when payments are overdue. You can settle your account through the portal or by visiting reception during staffed hours. If your payments are up to date and you’re still experiencing access issues, please contact our team during staffed hours for assistance.

Can I bring a friend or guest with me outside of staffed hours?

No. For safety and security reasons, only members with active extended access memberships are permitted to enter the facility outside of staffed hours. Letting someone in who does not have access is considered tailgating and is strictly prohibited. Tailgating software is in place to monitor facility entries, and members found allowing unauthorised access will receive a formal warning. Repeat breaches may result in the cancellation of access during unstaffed hours.

Can I coach or train someone using my membership?

If you're informally training a friend or family member and not accepting payment, this is permitted. However, all forms of paid coaching or personal training are strictly prohibited unless approved through MU Sport's coaching agreements. Our facilities cannot be used for commercial purposes without authorisation.

What should I do if there’s an emergency or incident while I’m using the gym after hours?

Emergency contact details and procedures are displayed clearly within the facility. In the event of an emergency, call Triple Zero (000) immediately. For all other issues (e.g. equipment damage, a first aid incident), please report the matter via the online incident report form or contact staff during staffed hours. Additionally, if you require assistance from security at any point, please utilise the SafeZone app.

Can I use all areas of the facility during unstaffed hours?

Access may be limited to designated areas only. Please refer to signage within the facility. Some zones may be restricted or unavailable during unstaffed times for safety reasons.

External toilets only available during staffed hours.

I’ve lost my access card or fob. How can I get a replacement?

If you are a University of Melbourne student or staff member, you will need to order a replacement through the University. Once you receive your replacement card, please speak with our reception team during staffed hours to have this assigned as your access card. If you are a community member or alumni, please visit reception during staffed hours to purchase a replacement wristband. A fee will apply for the replacement of lost or damaged access cards. Until it’s replaced, you will be unable to access during unstaffed hours.

How is the facility monitored during unstaffed hours?

The facility is equipped with security cameras, tailgating detection software and monitored entry systems. This ensures safety and compliance with access rules. Misuse of the space or failure to follow access guidelines may result in disciplinary action, including restricted access.

Can I play music or use my phone speaker during unstaffed hours?

Please use headphones to ensure a respectful environment for others using the space. Loud music or speaker use is not permitted to ensure an enjoyable experience for all.

What happens if I forget my access card/fob after hours?

Unfortunately, if you forget your access card/band, you will not be able to enter the facility during unstaffed hours. For security reasons, we cannot provide remote access or allow entry by tailgating. Please ensure you have your access card/band with you before arriving.

Are there cleaners or staff checking the facility overnight?

There are no MU Sport staff rostered overnight; however, cleaning staff may be present during unstaffed hours. Please respect their work and be mindful of shared spaces during your visit. Regular cleaning schedules are in place to maintain a clean and safe environment.

What do I do if i feel threatened or require security presence?

Blue emergency help phone are a contact point with University Security if you feel threatened, need security, or require security information. Activate the phone by pressing the 'emergency' button. Pressing this button alerts the central security control room. A security officer will answer the call and dispatch help if required.

The University's security monitoring service collects and processes personal information in the form of video and audio images and information about physical location to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, visitors and property. By entering any University campus, land, or building owned or managed by the University, you acknowledge that your personal information may be collected, used, and disclosed as described in the privacy notice.

As part of the University’s commitment to personal safety, staff and students can download a free mobile phone application called ‘SafeZone’.

In the event of an emergency, the app allows you to quickly share your location and details with the University security team who will be able to get the right assistance to you.

Fitness 24 - Unstaffed Hours Terms and Conditions


  1. General
    1. Where your membership includes the right to access certain MU Sport facilities during unstaffed hours these terms and conditions apply in addition to the MU Sport Terms and Conditions.
    2. MU Sport does not guarantee that that all its facilities will be available during unstaffed hours or that access to the facilities will be available 24 hours a day.
  2. Requirement to complete induction
    1. Prior to accessing any MU Sport facilities during unstaffed hours you must complete an induction session.
    2. During your membership you may be required by MU Sport to complete additional induction sessions. Failure to complete any additional session may result in the cancellation of your access to the facilities during unstaffed hours.
  3. Access during unstaffed hours
    1. You must scan your access card or wristband when accessing all MU Sport facilities.
    2. You must not allow anyone to use your access card or wristband or otherwise enable anyone to access the facilities during unstaffed hours. Enabling anyone else to access the facilities may result in the immediate cancellation of your access or membership.
    3. If your access card or wristband is lost or damaged, you must get a replacement before accessing the facilities during unstaffed hours.
  4. Use of the facilities during unstaffed hours
    1. You agree to only access the facilities during unstaffed hours where you are in good physical condition and do not know of any reason why you may not be able to exercise safely.
    2. When using the facilities during unstaffed hours you:
      • Acknowledge that your use of the MU Sport facilities and equipment is at your own risk;
      • Must not to use any equipment including treadmills, bench press, and squat racks without being showed by the staff how to use the equipment as part of your induction session;
      • Must comply with any instructions given to you by MU Sport, including during your induction session;
      • Agree that where a safety bar or other safety device has been provided for a piece of exercise equipment it must be used;
      • Must not engage in paid training or coaching, unless pre-authorised by MU Sport; and
      • Are responsible for your personal belongings.
  5. Suspension or cancellation of unstaffed hours access
    1. Your access to the facilities during unstaffed hours will be suspended where your membership fees are outstanding. All outstanding fees must be paid before your access will be reinstated.
    2. Failure to comply with these terms and conditions may result in the cancellation of your access to the facilities during unstaffed hours.
