FAQs - Accessing Customer Portal

Do I need to register an account?

All users who book a service in our facilities and programs receive an online login however, you can still visit reception for all your MU Sport requirements. The benefit of using your customer portal allows you to book your favourite classes and courts from home and beat the rush.

Student Discounted Rates & Free Classes

To access the student rate for a fitness membership, group fitness classes and court hire, you are required to have Student Eligibility on your account. This can be done at reception, via email, or phone. On your first visit you will need to present your student ID card at reception for student eligibility confirmation.

Payments made without providing a student ID will result in you paying a full fee, and you will not be eligible for a refund

Suspending your Membership

  • Log in to the online portal
  • Click on Membership
  • Click on suspend account
  • Enter your suspension start and end date by using the down arrow to open calendar
  • Select a reason for the suspension using the down arrow
  • Click confirm to finalise the membership suspension

Cancelling your Membership

Send your cancellation request to memberships-sport@unimelb.edu.au.

How to book a Group fitness class

  • Once you have logged in, select Group fitness bookings
  • Select the date you want to book
  • Choose your class and select book now
  • Please Note: Contact reception to get student eligibility before paying if you are a student.

How to cancel a Group fitness class

You can cancel your bookings up to 30 minutes before the scheduled session.

  1. Log in to the customer portal using your email and password
  2. Select the schedule page and your class
  3. Withdraw from class

We offer competitive, value for money, fee-based fitness membership rates for University of Melbourne students, staff, alumni, and the local community.

Fortnightly Direct Debit Membership

Deduct the membership amount from your Visa, Mastercard or Bank account fortnightly for a minimum of 4 fortnights/8 weeks.

An initial pro-rata payment will be processed on the day you sign up to carry you through until the first direct debit account withdrawal.

To cease ongoing payments after 8 weeks you must fill out a direct debit membership suspension or cancellation form, available from reception.

Member Etiquette

For the safety and comfort of all members and patrons. Thank you for your cooperation.

Aquatic Etiquette

  • Follow the directions of the Pool Lifeguard
  • Shower prior to entering the swimming pool
  • Wear clean, appropriate swimwear
  • Swim to the left and choose an appropriate lane for your speed
  • No running, diving or ball games
  • Glassware and foods are prohibited on the pool deck
  • Swim Coaching is to be provided by approved instructors only
  • Lockers are available for storage of items
  • Placing and receiving mobile phone calls should only be made in the reception areas
  • No electronic devices to be used in the pool or changerooms
  • Photography or videography is not permitted unless by prior arrangement with MU Sport
  • Children under the age of 12 must be actively supervised by a responsible parent/guardian (over the age of 16) while in the water, during swim lessons and in change rooms.

Gym Etiquette

  • Follow the directions of Fitness Services Staff
  • Carry a gym towel at all times and use on all equipment and matted stretch areas
  • Wipe down all equipment after use, wet wipes are located throughout the gym
  • Wear clean, appropriate workout clothing and closed toe shoes at all times
  • Consider your personal hygiene and use deodorant
  • Allow others to use equipment during rest periods
  • Return all equipment to the correct place in the gym after use
  • Lockers and shelves are available
  • Placing and receiving mobile phone calls should only be made in the reception areas
  • No electronic devices to be used in the pool or changerooms
  • Photography or videography is not permitted unless by prior arrangement with MU Sport

Group Fitness Etiquette

  • Follow the directions of the instructor
  • Arrive prior to the advertised class starting time
  • Appropriate clothing and footwear must be worn
  • Bring a workout towel to all classes
  • Pack all equipment away
  • Water bottles are recommended for each class
  • Placing and receiving mobile phone calls should only be made in the reception areas
  • Photography or videography is not permitted unless by prior arrangement with MU Sport
Online Suspension or Cancellation Request

Suspensions

  • Email memberships-sport@unimelb.edu.au for all suspension requests
  • Include in the email:
    • your suspensions dates, beginning and end. Example: From the 01.01.2023 to 01.03.2023
    • your first and last name, as well as your student/staff number
  • Suspensions must be submitted with at least 7 days’ notice of the beginning date of the suspension – you will not be able submit your request with less notice than this
  • Suspensions must be in 2-week blocks, up to a maximum of 16 weeks free per calendar year. Your original dates may be requested to slightly change to accommodate this.
  • If you would like a suspension longer than 16 weeks, please visit the facilities to speak to a Guest Services Officer or call the centre on 8344 5405
  • Retain the confirmation email as verification that your suspension request has been submitted
  • Once your submission is received, the Guest Services staff will process as per your request. If there are any issues, you will be contacted via email.

Cancellations

  • Email memberships-sport@unimelb.edu.au for all cancellation requests
  • Include in the email:
    • your cancellation date. Example: I wish to cancel my membership as of 01.03.23
    • your first and last name, as well as your student/staff number
  • If you are on a Salary Sacrifice membership, email memberships-sport@unimelb.edu.au and request a HR23 form to fill out. We require a returned HR23 form to cancel a Salary Sacrifice membership
  • If you are on a Direct Debit membership, you must have made minimum 4 fortnightly payments to cancel your membership
  • Cancellations must be submitted with at least 14 days’ notice – you will not be able submit your request with less notice than this
  • In most cases, there will be one more payment applicable. Cancellations can not be processed if money is owing from a previous debit.
  • Retain the confirmation email as verification that your cancellation request has been submitted
  • Once your submission is received, the Guest Services staff will process as per your request. If there are any issues, you will be contacted via email.
Staff Salary Packaging

Eligible staff have the option to salary sacrifice membership for the Melbourne University Sports and Recreation Centre. Membership can be paid from pre-tax salary and provides access to a range of sporting facilities and services.
