Sports Precinct
Tin Alley
Located at the northern end of the Parkville campus, the Sport Precinct has variety of sport and recreation facilities available for group bookings, private events, or casual hire.
Our facilities include the following:
- Athletics track with jumps facilities (Rawlinson Athletics Track)
- Beaurepaire Centre Gym and Pool
- BBQ areas (outdoor) areas x2
- Cricket and baseball training nets
- Ernie Cropley Pavilion
- Function spaces (also suitable for meetings and conferences) x3
- High Performance Studio - located in Beaurepaire Centre
- Multi-purpose grass playing field (University Oval)
- Nona Lee Sports Centre
- Indoor exercise spaces x3 (suitable for group fitness, dancing and martial arts)
- Indoor stadium x2 (suitable for badminton, volleyball, netball and basketball)
- Squash court x4
- Outdoor basketball/netball court
- Synthetic Hockey pitch
- Tennis courts x 4
How to get here
Parking within the Sports Precinct requires a permit, which are only arranged for event or function bookings. The nearest public parking locations are located here. Parking within the Sports Preceinct without a valid permit will incur parking infringement notices.
Bike racks are provided at the front and rear of the Nona Lee Sports Centre and the front of the Beaurepaire Centre. Bikes are only to be parked at bike racks, and shouldnt be locked to fences or other infrastructure.
Those coming to the Sports Precinct by public transport can get off at the following stops:
Tram
- Melbourne University / Swanston St Tram Stop (via Routes 1 and 6), then a 7min walk to the Sports Precinct.
- Morrah St / Royal Pd Tram Stop (via Route 19), then a 7min walk to the Sports Precinct.
Train
The closest Train Station is Parkville Station (Exit 1), then a 12min walk to the Sports Precinct.
Bus
- Trinity College / Royal Pd Bus Stop (heading South) or Morrah St / Royal Pd Bus Stop (heading North) via Route 505, then a 7min walk to the Sports Precinct.
- Elgin St / Lygon St Bus Stop via Routes 200 and 207, then an 8min walk to the Sports Precinct.
Wheelchair Access is via the rear of the Sports Centre and the front of the Beaurepaire Centre.
Both the Nona Lee Sports Centre and Beaurepaire Centre buildings have lifts to access the second levels.
How to Book
Facilities are available to be booked for Casual Play for informal, small groups, or for more formal, larger group bookings or events. For more information on these processes, visit our Court Hire page.
