Men's UBL Coach
The University of Melbourne is thrilled to announce the appointment of Andrew Walker as Head Coach of the Men’s University Basketball League (UBL) Program.
A familiar and highly respected figure within the Melbourne Basketball community, Walker brings a wealth of experience, a championship-winning pedigree, and an unwavering commitment to player development. His appointment reflects the program's ambition to build on its proud history while continuing to provide student-athletes with an elite basketball experience.
Throughout his coaching career, Walker has established himself as one of the leading coaches in Victorian basketball. His time with the Melbourne University Basketball Club and the University’s intervarsity team has been highlighted by success at the highest levels of competition, helping guide teams to championships and building a culture centred on excellence, accountability, and teamwork.
His proven ability to develop players and create successful programs has been a hallmark of his coaching journey. Whether working with emerging talent or experienced athletes, Walker has consistently demonstrated a unique ability to bring out the best in individuals while fostering strong team-first environments.
As he steps into the role of Head Coach of the University of Melbourne's Men’s UBL Program, Walker brings a clear vision for success. His focus will be on maintaining the program's competitive standards while continuing to develop student-athletes both on and off the court. With extensive experience in high-performance basketball environments, he understands what it takes to compete for championships while balancing the unique demands faced by university athletes.
Importantly, Walker will continue to serve as the Basketball Club's Youth League Coach, strengthening the pathway between Melbourne University's junior, senior and intervarsity programs. His continued involvement at the Youth League level reinforces the club's commitment to developing home-grown talent and providing aspiring athletes with opportunities to progress through the program.
