UBL Round 7 Review - UTS

As our Melbourne University UBL teams travelled to Sydney to take on the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), both teams were feeling the pressure.

Our women’s team had to win this game if they were to have a chance at qualifying for finals, but they were dealt a tough hand, only having six players available and suiting up.

Nonetheless, they gave it their all and left everything on the court. UTS was no easy opponent, but the team stayed with them all the way.

Despite a very impressive performance, they fell just short of a win, UTS only just able to hold on after our women’s team made a comeback.

Having already qualified for finals, the only thing riding on the men’s game was the end of season standings, and their pride… it was a 2023 Grand Final rematch after all.

UTS came out strong, but our Winged Victory held their own and eventually took control of the game, they were able to maintain a 15-point margin for the majority of the game and secured the win with confidence.

It may not have been their strongest roster, the team facing a couple of injuries, however, every player stood up and proved just how deep the roster is.
