Georgia-Rose's story
Masters of Physiotherapy student Georgia-Rose Brown represented New Zealand in Artistic Gymnastics at the Paris Games. After winning three Commonwealth Games medals for Australia and representing the country five times at the World Championships, Georgia-Rose moved across the Tasman Sea late last year. Her mother is from New Zealand and she sees the move as a way to honour her mother’s side after representing her father’s side for years. The change in the colour of the leotard was also driven by her ambition to compete at the Olympics, as she narrowly missed out on selection in the previous editions.
The International Olympic Committee accepted her switch to New Zealand in January, and she secured qualification points for the Paris Olympics by competing on the uneven bars in the 2024 FIG World Cup series. At 173cm, Georgia-Rose Brown is one of the tallest athletes in women’s artistic gymnastics, and she has to raise the uneven bars by 10cm at training and competitions!
