The MUCD community prides itself on fostering an inclusive and welcoming space, balancing the competitive side to cheer and dance with the social elements of a university sports club. Highlights of the MUCD calendar include competitions (with the opportunity to travel to the gold coast at the end of the year for nationals!), our showcase for friends and family, informal team bonding events (think pub nights, yo-chi runs, costume bedazzling sessions) and club wide events (fan favourite is our season close ball).

How do I join?
Because each team rehearses a specific routine to compete over the year, joining midway through the semester is difficult.
We hold team placement sessions at the beginning of each semester (often during o-week or week 1). At the beginning of the year, we hold free come & try classes where you can get a taste for the club! Be sure to follow our instagram as this is where all key information is posted!

Training times
At MUCD our teams rehearse routines that we perform at three to five competitions each year. Each dance team trains one night a week, while our cheer team trains twice a week. Please refer to our latest information book for details around when each of our teams train.
We offer dance teams in the styles of jazz, pom, lyrical and hip hop. Our teams compete in one of three different divisions to accommodate various levels of experience. In 2026 we offered jazz and pom teams in all three divisions, while our lyrical and hip hop teams competed in the Uni and Open Uni divisions.
- University division (Advanced)
- Open University division (Intermediate/Advanced)
- Novice division (Beginner/Intermediate)
Our cheer program offers something for cheerleaders of all levels, ranging from beginner level 1 to advanced level 4 stunt groups. Our main competitive teams depend on yearly interest, however we have historically competed with a level ½ non-tumble team as well as a level 3/4 tumble team.
Our timetable is structured to allow you to compete in teams across multiple styles, for which we offer a multi-team fee discount. For example, many of our athletes love to compete in both lyrical and jazz, or cheer and pom, alongside many other combinations.
