Melbourne University retains the Big Blue trophy

Big Blue is over for another year, and Semester Two was just as close as Semester One!

The latest Big Blue event involved Badminton and Table Tennis in both a Men’s and Women’s competition. Badminton was hosted at the Nona Lee Sports Centre, while Table Tennis was hosted at Monash University on Friday 12 September.

Competing in Badminton, we had two student-athletes - Kaitlyn Ea (Science) and Jordan Wang (Design) - who competed in the Badminton team at the World University Games earlier this year.

While the Melbourne men lost overall in both sports, it was the women who prevailed, taking out both Badminton and Table Tennis against Monash.

All matches were won or lost in the last doubles rubber, which shows how close the competition was.

The completion of Big Blue 2025 has resulted in a tie, meaning that the University of Melbourne retains the trophy – making it four years in a row!
