MU Sport joins with the Cricket and Hockey Clubs to mourn the passing of Sylvia Faram AM. Sylvia was an alumna, Blue recipient in 1950, 51 and 53 and a long-standing member of the Cricket and Hockey Clubs.
Sylvia was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the General Division for significant service to cricket administration, and to hockey in the 2024 Australia Day Honours.
During her time in cricket, Sylvia held several positions including President of the Australian Women’s Cricket Council, a Delegate of the International Women’s Cricket Council and Vice-President and President of the Victorian Women’s Cricket Council. On field, she represented Victoria in the 1960s and coached various teams.
Sylvia was a life member of Hockey Victoria and President of the Melbourne Women's Hockey Association in the 1970s. She represented Australia in the 1950s and went on to coach and manage teams over the decades.
