It was a fantastic weekend for Melbourne University Women’s Football Club in the VFL Women’s competition, thrashing 3rd place Richmond 11.11.77 to 1.3.9 at the Swinburne Centre (Punt Rd Oval). From the first bounce, they controlled the game, leaving Richmond with a mere 3 points across the final three quarters. Their strong performance now puts them 4 points from 3rd place and gives them a significant boost heading into next week’s game against top of the table Collingwood. Full fixture and results here.

Wins all round in the Big V Basketball league for both our men’s and women’s teams. The Melbourne University Basketball Club Division 1 Men’s team defeated Bellarine Storm 99-81, while Division 2 Women defeated Blackburn Vikings by 4 points, the final score 50-46.

Melbourne University Boat Club
saw fierce performances from two of their superstar female rowers at the World Rowing Cup 3 in Rotterdam. Lucy Stephan took out gold for Australia in the Women's fours A-finals with Alice Arch finishing second in the Lightweight Women's Double Scull B Final. The pair contributing enormously to Australia's overall win of the 2019 World Rowing Cup. Alumna Jessica Morrison was also amongst the medals, winning Gold in the Women's Pair and a Silver in the Women's 8s. Read the full article here.

An excellent weekend for Melbourne University Hockey Club VIC League 1 women’s side who outshined La Trobe University Hockey Club. Their strong performance saw them tally a total of 8 goals while La Trobe was left scoreless.

Melbourne University Soccer Club
state league 1 senior women’s side soared once again this weekend outplaying their opponents Bundoora United FC to win 6-1. With no losses or draws this season the girls extended their lead at the top of the table. They now look to continue their strong form next week against 4th placed Preston Lions FC. MUSC state league 4 senior men’s side also outclassed their opposition Golden Plains SC this weekend, winning 6-0. The men now placed 3rd in the league are a mere four points off first place. They face second from the bottom Laverton FC next week.
