Our Athletic Head Coaches
Sandro Bisetto
Sandro is qualified as a Level 5 Academy Coach. He is highly regarded within the high jump world as one of, if not, the most skilful high jump coaches in Australia.
Notably, he has coached Joel Baden to multiple World Championships and Olympic Games, and was coach to Tim Forsyth, the current mens high jump Australian record holder, at the time of his bronze medal performance at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.
Tony Brain
Tony is qualified with a Level 4 Senior Middle & Distance Coach. He is currently the Vice President of the Melbourne University Athletics Club, and specialises in middle and long distance events.

We will once again be staying onsite at the Gold Coast Performance Centre and our check in is booked from Mon 21rd April and check out is Friday 25nd April. This was the minimum period we could book for this event, but it provides cover for the whole competition and is the best value for money and location. We will again be providing better cooking facilities including, air fryer, rice maker, electric hot plate and pasta maker.
All athletes who register for the event are required to stay onsite at the accommodation provided by Melbourne University Sport.

Registration
Before you register for the event there are a couple of steps to complete first.
- Complete the Register your interest (for new and returning athletes, must be completed every year)
- Check you make the Qualifying Standards 2025.
All athletes need to be eligible to compete in this event, which means they must be enrolled in semester one 2025.

Important Athlete Considerations.
- All athletes should put their names down for relays, as they are worth double points in the teams competition.
- If you make qualifying standards, please put yourself down for multiple events, (you can always withdraw later)
- Field athletes are in high demand, so recruit your friends.
Registration
- The process will require you to create an account if you haven’t already got one.
- Complete your personal details, upload your photo, and select your category of participation.
- Complete the registration steps and make payment via PayPal.
- A guest checkout option is available for those who do not have a PayPal account.
- Receive your confirmation of registration via email.

Event Costs
For 2025, the registration fee will stay as one fixed fee allowing participants to enter unlimited events (pending qualification standards).
To develop the event experience for all attending (and following feedback received from both competitors and UTMs) several enhancements will be made to this year’s event, including:
- An official event opening, including a Welcome to County
- Livestream
- World Ranking Event.

All athletes must wear the official Winged Victory Uniform for this event. If you have previously represented the University, it is the same uniform, so you would not need to purchase a new uniform. If you would like to try sizes before you purchase, please see Tony Sephton in the Sport development office, Nona Lee sports center.

Sport Access Scholarship
Melbourne University Sport proudly offers students facing financial hardship with a subsidy towards Intervarsity representation. The list of benfits for this scholarship also includes the following,
Scholarship benefits include:
- Unlimited use of the Strength & Fitness Gym (subject to maximum numbers)
- A free introductory session with a trainer in our Strength and Fitness Gym and one complimentary training program per month (subject to availability)
- Unlimited access to Group Fitness classes (subject to maximum class numbers)
- Unlimited access to the Beaurepaire 25-metre heated lap pool (subject to maximum numbers)
- Access to Member rates for all other MU Sport services and facilities, such as court hire and accommodation at the Melbourne University Ski Lodge
- Access to casual lockers during your workout
- Up to $300 subsidy towards an MU Sport Club Membership OR Intervarsity representation
- $50 per semester towards entry into a Campus Sport competition
- Free Court Hire (1-hour free court hire per week – subject to court availability)
Selection criteria
Eligible candidates are selected based on the quality of their personal statement and level of financial need.
Students who received a Sport Access Scholarship in 2024 are eligible to apply for the same scholarship in 2025.
Conditions
This scholarship is conditional on maintaining an academic status of good standing.
Application
We have Two rounds for applications per year.
Round 1:
Open: 28th January 2025
Closes: 9th March 2025.
Recipients will be notified by 14th April 2025.
Round 2:
Opens: May 1st 2025
Closes: 9th Aug 2025
Recipients will be notified by 26th August 2025.
How to apply
You must submit a complete and submit an online Sport Access Scholarship Application Form and an online Student Financial Need Assessment by the closing date.
Only applications that complete both forms will be considered.
