The Volleyball Club's Premier Women won back-to-back premierships.

Congratulations to the Volleyball Club whose Premier Women defeated rivals Monash University 3-sets-to-1 to clinch back-to-back premierships. The Renegades also picked up another four premierships and two 2nd-place finishes on what was a fantastic weekend for the Club.
Congratulations also the premier Women’s Soccer team who won the State League 1 North-West title with two games remaining after cruising to a 6 – 0 win over Eltham Redbacks. Captain Lauren Thompson finished off her season in style with a hattrick to bring her tally to 15 goals from just 10 games. The Men’s SL4 side are still in the hunt for a 2nd-place finish, sitting 3rd after a dominant 7 – 0 win against North Melbourne over the weekend. John Wood bagged his second hattrick in three weeks, while Luis Voysest snagged a brace.
A further success in an impressive weekend for the University’s sporting clubs was earned by Cycling Club member Emma Chilton, who won the U/23 title at the 2019 Cyclo-Cross National Championships and finished 11th overall in the Elite Women’s open division.
A 9-point preliminary final win for the BigV Women’s Basketball team has propelled them into the Division 2 grand final. Emmie O’Nial was a dominant presence as the side defeated the Blackburn Vikings 60 – 51, picking up 24 rebounds, 19 points and a couple of assists. The grand final will be played as a best-of-three, with the first leg to be held in the Nona Lee Sports Centre at 7:00pm this Saturday 24 August.
The Women’s VL1 Hockey side sealed the minor premiership with a win over 2nd-placed Mornington Peninsula. Locked 0 – 0 at the break, it was Melbourne who took control of the second half to run away with a 3 – 1 victory with one round remaining before finals.
The Lacrosse Club’s Div 1 Men earned a hard-fought 11 – 10 win over Caufield to finish off their season. Josh Rotstein had a field-day, scoring 6 goals and providing 2 assists.
Capping off the weekend were two wins in Australian Rules Football, as the Blacks defeated St Bedes/Mentone Tigers by 110 points and the Blues ground out an 8-point win over Old Brighton.
