The Melbourne University Rugby Club’s Women’s team took the field this weekend to demolish Melbourne Rugby Club in the Lindroth Cup competition. The team has had a run of tough matches in the past few rounds, so their 48-0 win was a triumph for the club. This puts them in good stead for their upcoming match against Box Hill this weekend.

The Athletics Club ventured to the Sandown Road Relays on the Saturday in round 5 of the Cross Country season. Strong performances were seen by the Premier Women’s team who placed 3rd in a time of 1:57:23. The Premier Men’s team faced a close competition with the top three teams less than 21 seconds apart. They were not far behind as they claimed a 7th place position. Results can be found here.

The Cycling Club competed in the Footscray Winter Classic on the weekend with Rafael Ungar impressively taking home a win for the club. In the last lap, Ungar made a brave break from the pack to finish out on top. Bachelor of Science student Ruby Roseman-Gannon took out second place and was the fastest female to cross the line. Following last week’s defeat, the Football Club's Women’s VFL team were also determined to make a comeback. They narrowly defeated the Casey Demons 38-33. Katie Angelis placed two goals on the scoreboard and secured best on ground for the match. Watch out for their next game against Richmond this Sunday.

In the Bupa VNL Women's Championship competition, Melbourne University Lightning Netball faced the Hawks in round 15 of the season. It was a thrilling goal-for-goal match, with a final full time score of 52-52. The team will size up against the Geelong Cougars on Wednesday.

The Soccer Club had a successful weekend with the Men’s and Women’s sides securing wins. The Women’s State League 1 team convincingly defeated the Eltham Redbacks 6-1. Lauren Thompson and Chloe Romero were impressive on the field, scoring 3 and 2 goals respectively. Chloe now sits second in the league for total goals scored for the season. The team remain unstoppable with their season-long winning streak and unshakeable first place ladder position. The Men’s State League 4 team also brought home a 2 goal win on the weekend, in a closely contested match against Gisborne. They will take on Golden Plains this Saturday.
