Following on from the celebrations of IDAHOBIT last week, the Women’s Football Club delivered an impressive win over rivals Darebin in the VFL pride round. Donning their new pride guernseys the team stepped out onto the University's Main Oval, complete with rainbow coloured 50 metre lines, to claim a 36-point victory and end a historic drought against the Falcons. Now with two wins under their belt, the women’s VFL team sits on top of the ladder as they await their next match against the 4th placed Western Bulldogs on Saturday 25 May.

The men’s Australian Rules teams also posted big wins last weekend, with the University Blues defeating Old Xaverians 15.13.103 – 9.14.68 in the William Buck Premier Division, while the University Blacks comfortably defeated Old Haileyburians 19.12.126 – 11.11.77 in Premier B.

The Melbourne University Athletics Club had some amazing results at the Great Ocean Road Running Festival over the weekend. Nick Earl ran the marathon in 2:27:37, earning first place and setting a course record. There were also some impressive results in the Half Marathon, including Max Ueda, posting a 1:14:43 to earn fourth place. The full results from the day can be found here.

The Basketball Club had a big win in BigV Division 2 with the women's side defeating Sherbrooke Suns 75 – 61. Watch out for them next Saturday as they take on Blackburn Vikings at home along with the men’s Division 1 team, who also have home matches.

It was also a clean sweep for the Hockey Club, with both Men’s and Women’s teams outshining their opponents to claim victory. The Men’s Premier League team defeated KBH Brumbies 4 ­– 1 to move themselves up the ladder, now sitting mid-table after six rounds. The Men’s Premier League Reserves dominated the KBH Brumbies 6 – 0 in the 2nds, earning much needed points to stay within one win of ladder leaders, Waverley. The women’s Vic League 1 team claimed a 4 – 2 win over Brunswick HC, cementing their second place position on the ladder, narrowly behind Mornington Peninsula Hockey Club on goal difference.

The Lacrosse Club also had success in the Women’s competition, their B Grade team winning a tight match 13 – 11against Footscray. Their next match will have them up against Altona at home.

The Soccer Club’s top teams both had convincing wins over the weekend. The women’s State League 1 team defeated Melbourne Knights FC 2 – 0 in a home match extravaganza. Sitting on the top of the ladder, they will face Moreland Zebras FC on Sunday. The Men’s State League 4 team outclassed their opponents, defeating North Melbourne Athletic FC 6 – 2.

The Tennis Club Women’s Grade 2 Section 1 team easily defeated East Preston Park TC 4.8.54 – 0.1.25 in the Victoria Pennant competition, bringing them up to second place on the ladder.

While the Renegades Volleyball Club Premier Men’s team had a bye last weekend, the Premier Women’s team posted a very impressive 3 – 0 victory over Victoria University.
