The Women’s Vic League 1 team from the Hockey Club overwhelmed their opponents on the weekend, defeating Werribee Hockey Club 5–1 to cement their place on top of the ladder, with five more rounds left in the season before they begin their finals campaign. The Men’s Premier League team had a tough loss against Southern United, but successfully managed to hold the score to 0–2 against the ladder leaders, a strong team with multiple players who have represented Australia in international competition.

It was a huge weekend of football for Melbourne University, including a tremendous first win for the Women’s Football Club in the William Buck Premier Women’s league, defeating Fitzroy FC 4.4.28 – 2.4.16. The Men’s teams had very convincing wins, with the University Blues posting a massive victory (17.11.113 – 7.9.51) over De La Salle in the William Buck Premier League, leading goal scorers including Ayce Cordy, Kieran Harper, and Timothy Harper, who each kicked 4 goals to provide a comfortable win for the club. The University Blacks demolished their Fitzroy FC opponents in the Premier B league, a 18.14.122–4.4.28 victory providing valuable percentage points as they approach the end of the home and away season.

The Lacrosse Club’s Division 1 Men’s team had a comfortable win over Caulfield, defeating them 17–4. With only three rounds left, the pressure is on for them to claim a tightly contested spot in the finals.

The Lightning Netball Club defeated Wilson Storage Southern Saints (61–52) in the Bupa VNL Championship last week. Unfortunately, with only one round left they will narrowly miss out on making the finals. You can catch their last match of the season on Wednesday night at 8:15PM at the State Netball Hockey Centre!

The Tennis Club's Women’s Grade 2 Section 1 team defeated East Preston Park 3.6.43 – 1.2.19, keeping them in 1st place on the ladder. With only 3 rounds left to go, they look to maintain their position on top to ensure a 1 vs. 4 match in the finals.

It was an incredibly successful weekend for the Melbourne University Renegades Volleyball Club, with both their Men’s and Women’s Premier teams defeating their opponents in straight sets. With one round left in the season, the Women’s team sits on top of the ladder.
